How do I form a Chapter???
A chapter is a regional group of SAAA members, (not in the SAAA? become a non-voting
social member)
Each chapter is formed as an Incorporated Association for the litigation protection.
The steps you take are pretty simple.
1. get a group of enthusiasts together. In WA you need 6, Qld 7, most other States
5 SAAA members. These are the minimum numbers required for incorporation. If you live in a remote area, haven't the numbers and want to do it, just email
us for a solution
2. apply to the SAAA Melbourne Office for
a chapter number and info pack
3. sort out a constitution for incorporation based on our chapter info pack details.
Any of the national
councillor's can help.
4. reserve the name with the incorporations people.
5.advertise the intention to form an association. You can use your local community
newspaper to do this.
6. after the objections period, register the association name. There are some
costs here but the SAAA will reimburse these.
7. give a copy of the certificate of incorporation to the SAAA office.
8. see your chapter and contact details advertised here and in Airsport.
and finally, most importantly, have barbeques, meet over projects, and build
aeroplanes!
We have over 600 Experimental Aircraft on the Australian Register and the number
is growing! Get into it!
